Meratus Promotes Mangrove Planting with Local Community
Carbon emissions are continuously rising, increasing Earth's surface temperature and climate change globally, including in Indonesia. It is feared that this condition will lead to more destructive natural disasters. Seeing the urgency, Meratus considered it is essential to reduce the impact of carbon emissions as soon as possible. Therefore, Meratus invites employees, the marine guard community, and young people to join mangrove tree planting activities. This activity was held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Ecotourism Mangrove Planting Wonorejo, Surabaya.
Mangrove planting activity, also included in the #WEALLGOGREEN program, is one of Meratus's concrete actions in our efforts and commitments to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Agenda 2030. We hope this program can motivate all social elements to collaborate in anticipating climate change due to increased carbon emissions in the Earth's atmosphere.
"After previously we carried out mangrove planting activities in Jakarta, now we invite employees with the marine guard community to plant mangrove seedlings in Surabaya. We have not only mangrove planting activities, but also the Meratus #WEALLGOGREEN program which compiled with other carbon emission offset activities in other cities. I hope it has a good impact on nature conservation, especially for the sea in Indonesia," said Farid Belbouab, CEO of Meratus.
